The Do's And Don'ts Of Wearing Blush

The Do’s and Don’ts of Wearing Blush

Want to know the do's and don't of wearing blush that looks natural and radiant? Read on for my top 5 professional makeup artistry tips to get that flawless glow you're after ... and it's not what you thought!

1. Choose a shade that’s close to the color your skin turns after intense exercise.

This may seem brighter than you’d think would look natural but it’s the closest to your natural flush.

Don’t be afraid of a shade that looks too bright in the pan. If it’s too light or chalky it’ll look the same way on your skin.

You want a glow like you were a kid. 🤗

2. Avoid shimmer or glitter.

Just don’t do it.

It looks fake and a little trashy. Unless of course you’re going for the stripper or 80’s look 😳

3. Apply the blush with a medium sized brush, not too small, not too big and fluffy.

It should be roughly the size of the apple of your cheek (the fleshy part that pops out when you smile) 💍

4. Gently dab the blush on the apples of your cheeks (again the part that pops out when you smile).

If you have a thin, long face (like moi) apply it closer to your nose, directly under your eyes, not near your ear. Start with just a little and then build up.

If you have a fuller or wider face, do the same but a bit closer to your ear.

Please, please don’t blend it up into your ear. Again, we’re not in the 80’s. 👩‍🎤

5. Remember, if you’re going to be in pictures, add more than you would think is necessary. The camera (especially with a flash) has a tendency to wash you out.

I’ve had many clients who were terrified at the thought of a bright blush. Until they saw how they looked.

And then they cried.

Literally.

When I ask why are you crying??

“I’ve never felt so pretty.” **screeech! Mike drop**.
